Burhaan Kinu was born and raised in Kashmir, where his journey as a visual storyteller began. Starting as a photojournalist, he documented pivotal events, everyday life, and social narratives across Kashmir, the North East, and other parts of India, extending his work to neighboring Nepal. His commitment has always been to represent the world around him with authenticity, giving space to underrepresented voices and presenting alternative perspectives through impactful imagery.

His photography has captured themes ranging from resilience and resistance to poverty and development, creating compelling visual stories that have been featured in leading national and international platforms, including TIME, Huffington Post, BBC World, ABC News, Bloomberg, CNBC, Corbis, and Getty Images.

From 2012 to 2020, Burhaan worked as a staff photojournalist with the Hindustan Times in New Delhi. Prior to that, he contributed as a freelancer and with the Kashmir Observer. His work was recognized by the Huffington Post in 2013 as one of the 52 best photographs worldwide. His photo essays were exhibited at the University of Wisconsin–Madison during the South Asia Conference, where scholars and writers highlighted his representation of people and politics through visual narratives.

Currently based in Riyadh Saudi Arabia, Burhaan has transitioned from photojournalism into media production, bringing with him years of storytelling experience and a keen eye for capturing impactful visuals. His focus now lies in producing high-quality media content that merges creativity with professional execution, continuing his pursuit of meaningful representation through new formats and platforms.
